My Grandfather Carried Wisdom Through Music

Colonization tried to erase it: the heritage, the body, the voice, the livelihood. This is a journey of reclaiming all four, and reconnecting with the roots that never left.

My grandfather's music gave people somewhere to put what they were holding: release, belonging, the sound of their own voice. If you ever feared it was too late, or that you were never enough to belong, it is not too late. The roots never asked for proof.
